The US Indo-Pacific Command on Wednesday visited one of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) facilities installed at the Basa Air Base in Pampanga.

According to AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Colonel Xerxes Trinidad, the visit is part of the ongoing engagement under the Mutual Defense Board-Security Engagement Board (MDB-SEB) meeting.

AFP Chief General Romeo Brawner Jr. accompanied Admiral Samuel Paparo to inspect the facilities that have been developed under EDCA between the Philippines and the United States.

The inspection focused on the improvements and upgrades made to enhance the operational capabilities of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and promote joint interoperability between the two armed forces.

Basa Air Base, one of the sites designated under the EDCA, has been equipped with various infrastructure upgrades and facilities to support the Philippine military’s modernization efforts and contribute to the overall security and defense posture in the region.

“The improvements in our facilities at Basa Air Base demonstrate our commitment to strengthening our defense capabilities and ensuring that our forces are prepared to respond to any security challenge,” General Brawner stated.

“These developments are vital in our pursuit of a modern and credible defense force that can effectively safeguard our nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
