President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has named former Lipa City Mayor Meynardo Asa Sabili as the new Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) Chairman.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin led the oath-taking ceremony for Sabili, who served as mayor of Lipa City from 2010 to 2019.
The PCUP serves as an advisory body to the President, advocating for marginalized communities and ensuring that government programs and policies address the needs of the urban poor.
Before serving as mayor, Sabili was a member of the Batangas Provincial Board from the 4th District between 1991 and 2001.
After his mayoral term, Sabili was appointed Undersecretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.
