THE Philippine Navy’s Naval Special Operation Unit 06 on Monday trained BRP Laurence Narag crew members on Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS).

VBSS is a term used to approach and board any suspicious civilian vessel.

“The purpose to investigate, search, and apprehend a hostile vessel to prevent terrorism, piracy, and smuggling,” the Navy said.

The training aimed to enable members of the boarding team to execute safe and sound operations in accordance with the existing policies and procedures of the Navy.

It is also in compliance with national and international maritime laws, and to identify any potential hazards that may arise during the conduct of such operations.
