The Philippine National Police (PNP) Region XI is considering filing a complaint against supporters of fugitive Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy for spreading false information.
PNP Region XI spokesperson Police Major Catherine Dela Rey mentioned in an interview with DZRH on Monday that Quiboloy’s followers, through broadcast network SMNI, caused widespread “chaos and panic” by spreading false and malicious information.
“They’re making it seem like the whole of Davao City will be protesting, but that’s not true… it’s only their members,” Dela Rey said.
This comes after an SMNI social media post claimed the PNP had implemented a lockdown at all entry points to Davao City to allegedly prevent supporters of Quiboloy from entering the city.
In response, the PNP regional office said it was KOJC members who obstructed the national highway using heavy equipment and machineries as part of their protest against the police’s legal execution of the arrest warrant for Quiboloy, who is facing numerous criminal charges.
Dela Rey also debunked SMNI’s claim that seven KOJC supporters died as a result of the police raid, clarifying that there was only one fatality, which was unrelated to the police operation.
