House of Representatives Secretary General Reginald Velasco on Monday confirmed that Cassandra Li Ong, who is being linked to a raided Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) in Porac, Pampanga, has been transferred to the custody of the lower chamber from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

“Ms. Cassandra Ong has been transferred to the custody of the (House),” Velasco said in a text message.

The NBI turned over Ong to the House as they arrived in the latter’s premises in Quezon City around 12:20 p.m on Monday.

Ong, a businesswoman, had earlier been cited for contempt by the House for her failure to attend hearings in connection with the POGO controversy.

The House wanted Ong to be under its custody as one of the resource persons to the ongoing hearings of the quad committee on POGOs, extrajudicial killings, and illegal drugs issues during the past administration.

Dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, who had been linked to illegal POGO operations, reportedly met Ong in Singapore after fleeing the Philippines under the radar of local authorities.
