Marcos welcomes deportation of Ong, Guo’s sister from Indonesia

President Marcos is optimistic that the Philippine government, in cooperation with Indonesian authorities, will eventually capture dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo following the arrest and subsequent deportation of two of her reported companions.

The Chief Executive hinted about this on Thursday after Cassandra Li Ong and Guo’s sister, Sheila Guo, were intercepted and detained in Indonesia. The two were eventually sent back home escorted by Philippine authorities.

“Yes, well, you know what I know — that they (Ong and Sheila Guo) were intercepted in Indonesia,” Mr. Marcos said in an ambush interview in Malacañang.

“We are now, of course, in coordination with the Indonesian government and agencies, arranging for them to be brought back,” he added. “Probably within a day.”

Earlier, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) chief Benjamin Abalos, Jr. confirmed the reports that the two companions were already in the custody of Indonesian authorities.

“I received a report last night from [Philippine National Police chief Police General Rommel Marbil that two of her companions are already detained in Indonesia,” Abalos said.

On Wednesday, President Marcos promised that there would be consequences for the departure of Guo, ordering a thorough investigation into how the fired mayor managed to leave the country.

“Let me be clear: Heads will roll,” President Marcos said in his statement.

The Bureau of Immigration reported that Guo departed the country on July 18, flying to Singapore and then to Indonesia.
