THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) Monday arrested a suspected computer hacker at a posh resort in San Fernando, La Union.
BI Dana Sandoval identified the suspect as Lin Qiude, 40, who was nabbed by operatives of the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit in a luxury villa resort in Poro Point Freeport, San Fernando.
Sandoval said Lin was a Chinese computer hacker who worked for an online gaming hub that authorities raided last month in Porac, Pampanga
“According to intelligence information we have gathered, Lin is one of the leaders of a group of hackers. Actually, we are looking at other members of the group,” Sandoval said.
She added that upon verification with the Chinese police, Lin has been identified as a fugitive from China where he was wanted for fraud.
Chinese authorities said Lin was the subject of a warrant of detention issued by the public prosecutor in Anxi County, China where he was facing fraud charges.
Lin was allegedly responsible for hacking bank accounts of victims based in the US, Middle East and Europe.
The suspect was detained at the BI custodial facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending deportation proceedings and filing of cases against him.
