A Cessna 152 aircraft with two persons on board has overshot the end of runway 35 of Plaridel Airport in Bulacan, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported on Saturday.

Initial reports showed that the plane (with registration RP-C 5656) had a bumpy landing on runway 17 and continued without slowing down until it reached runway 35.

According to CAAP, the aircraft attempted a missed approach but couldn’t do so due to insufficient airspeed. It then collided with the perimeter fence and a nearby residential property.

CAAP stated that the incident happened around 1: 50 p.m. The Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting vehicle (ARFF) Plaridel immediately responded and provided assistance to the pilots.

One of the pilots sustained minor injuries, and fortunately, there were no occupants in the house affected.  The CAAP’s Licensing and Certification Department (LCD) and Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) will conduct separate investigations of the incident.

Two months ago, two persons were also hurt after a Cessna C172-type aircraft made an emergency landing in La Union.

The said aircraft with registration RP-C6923 declared an emergency immediately after taking off from Runway 19. It then ditched around 0.5 nautical miles from the threshold of Runway 01. The four-seater plane is owned and operated by Leading Edge Int’l Aviation.
