A 19-year-old Vietnamese woman named Ban Thi Van was arrested for causing a disturbance at Ninoy Aquino International Airport – Terminal 3, the authorities reported on Wednesday.

She was at the airport for immigration clearance before boarding a Cebu Pacific Air flight back to Hanoi.

During the inspection, she grabbed her passport from the immigration officer aggressively and threw herself on the floor, causing a scene by shouting which led to chaos in the immigration departure area.

Authorities, including personnel from the Border Control and Intelligence Unit, Airport Police Department, and Philippine National Police (PNP) Aviation Security Group, intervened to pacify the woman and she was subsequently arrested for her unruly behavior.

She was taken to the Immigration bureau’s head office for inquest proceedings and later transferred to Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City for deportation.

There was another incident last month involving a woman of the same nationality at NAIA Terminal 3.

Binh Minh, also Vietnamese, caused a disturbance by walking naked in the airport’s immigration area and was offloaded before boarding a Cebu Pacific Air flight for Hanoi.

Senator Raffy Tulfo expressed concern about these incidents and revealed his intention to investigate.

As the chair of the Senate Committee on Public Services, Tulfo stressed the importance of properly training airport security personnel to handle such situations.

He emphasized the need to clearly define the roles and duties of various agencies involved in airport security to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Tulfo advocated for the implementation of proper systems and security protocols to avoid the repetition of such incidents, stating, “It’s time to have proper systems and security protocols in place to prevent this from happening again.”
