TINGOG unveils major infrastructure milestones in Mindanao

Tingog party-list Rep. Jude Acidre unveiled last June 20 the renamed Tambacan Bridge to Mariano Lluch Badelles, Sr. Bridge in Iligan City with Mayor Frederick Siao, lawyer Oscar Badelles, Councilor Marlene Young, and former Captain Jimmy Sales present to honor an enduring leadership icon.

Badelles, Sr. is the esteemed first elected mayor of Iligan City from 1956-1959 and three-term representative of the first district of Lanao del Norte from 1987-1998.

“We feel humbled to rename Tambacan Bridge in Mariano Lluch Badelles Sr.’s honor for his contributions in public development throughout his tenure as a public servant,” said Acidre during the opening ceremony. “His exemplary leadership and dedication to public service have left an enduring legacy that continues to inspire us all.”

President Marcos signed Republic Act No. 11989, which officially renamed Tambacan Bridge to Mariano Lluch Badelles Sr. Bridge on March 21, 2024.

Meanwhile, Acidre also led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new 25-meter bridge in Malalag, Davao del Sur last June 22, 2024. The bridge will connect Purok Camanchile to Purok Lumbia in Brgy. Poblacion, Malalag, Davao del Sur, with an investment of P30 million.

“The construction of this bridge is not just an infrastructure project, but a symbol of progress and unity for the people of Malalag. It will greatly enhance connectivity, facilitate commerce, and improve the quality of life for our residents,” Acidre said.

As part of Tingog’s commitment to accelerate social development, the construction of the bridge aims to improve connectivity and support local development. The new bridge will play an important role in the improvement of transportation and accessibility for the citizens of Malalag and neighboring towns.

The ceremony was attended by local government officials of Davao del Sur including Governor Yvonne Roña Cagas, Vice Governor Riafe Cagas Fernandez, Jojo Delos Cientos (representing Rep. Tracy Cagas), Padada Mayor Frashale Guerrero, Board Member Lanier Cadungog, Provincial Federation PCL President Ex-Officio Board Member Dyane Idulsa, Malalag Mayor Peter Paul Valentin, Vice Mayor Ervin Emphasis, Kalipi President of Malalag Zorrah Valentin, Tingog Coordinator Malalag Kyra Valentin, District Engineer Nicomedes Parilla, Youth Development Director Bruce Fortuno, Sulop Mayor Jose Jimmy Sagarino, and Special Assistant to the Provincial Governor Marc Douglas IV Chan Cagas.

Lastly, on the same day, Acidre led the turnover ceremony of the Lower Mainit Bridge in Malungon, Sarangani. The investment for this infrastructure is worth P89 million.

The successful completion of this pivotal project aims to enhance connectivity and support local development. The new bridge is expected to play a crucial role in improving transportation and accessibility for the residents of Malungon and surrounding areas.

Several notable people attended the ceremony including Malungon Mayor Maria Theresa Constantino, Vice Mayor Mariano Escalda Jr., DPWH-District Engineer Rey Francisco, Chief of Construction Section Edward Carillo, Atty. Ryan Ramos (representing) Gov. Rogelio Pacquiao, Engr. Gerard Pacio (representing Rep. Steve Chongbian Solon), and Lower Mainit Brgy. Captain Edgar Allegario.
