The fingerprints of suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo and Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national, are the same based on findings of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Senator Risa Hontiveros said on Thursday.
“Mayor Alice, there is no secret that does not come to light,” Hontiveros said in Filipino.
“Indeed, the NBI has confirmed that the fingerprints of Mayor Alice Guo and Guo Hua Ping match,” she added.
According to the senator, the NBI findings confirmed what she suspected all along – that the suspended mayor is a Chinese national masquerading as a Filipino citizen.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian earlier revealed the mayor could be Guo Hua Ping based on the documents he gathered from the Board of Investments and the Bureau of Immigration.
“This is a big insult to Bamban voters, to our government institutions and to every Filipino,” Hontiveros said.
“Guo Hua Ping, soon, we will know the full extent of your deception,” she added, vowing to continue the Senate probe on Guo’s possible connection to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in Bamban.
The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) on Wednesday said it is considering filing a petition seeking to cancel the birth certificate of Mayor Guo.
“We are seriously considering the PSA’s (Philippine Statistics Authority) recommendation to file a petition for the cancellation of Mayor Guo’s birth certificate,” Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra said.
The OSG has already formed a team to conduct an investigation into Guo’s identity.
During Wednesday’s Senate hearing, it was discovered that a different “Alice Leal Guo” existed in the database of the NBI.
Both “Alice Leal Guo” – the mayor and the other one in the NBI database – were born on the same date and year.
