Over 6,000 vehicles apprehended in June over no-registration, no-travel policy

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Friday said over 6,000 motor vehicles have been apprehended nationwide during its aggressive implementation of the no-registration, no-travel policy in the first 15 days of June alone.

“The renewal of the registration is not only an obligation to the government, it is also an obligation to yourself and your family because doing so would compel you to ensure the road worthiness of your motor vehicles for your safety, for the safety of your love ones,” LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II said.

“Let’s not regret in the end what should have been done. The penalty is high and includes an impound. But what is more serious here is if our negligence ends up in an accident,” he added.

Citing LTO data, he said 6,064 motor vehicles were apprehended from June 1 to 15. Of which, 5,127 were motor bikes and the rest were four-wheel vehicles.

“We will continue to strictly enforce this policy. Let’s not wait for a breakdown before doing the correct registration of your vehicle,” Mendoza said.
