4Ps to include pregnant, lactating women

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday expanded the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) to include pregnant and lactating women.

In a meeting with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), and other agencies, the President approved the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) proposal to extend cash grants to these women to ensure their access to essential health services.

“Okay. Yes. Let’s do that. On the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, bring the mother, the family into the system. That’s really good,” Mr. Marcos said.

The expanded 4Ps will now provide additional support alongside existing grants, which offer monthly stipends for children’s education and health monitoring.

The President has tasked the DSWD and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) with finalizing the financial details to implement these adjustments.

The 4Ps program currently provides P300 monthly per child for daycare and elementary students, P500 for junior high, and P700 for senior high, all contingent on school attendance.

Additionally, households receive P750 per month if children aged 2 to 14 undergo growth monitoring, deworming, and attend family development sessions.
