Indonesian President Joko Widodo arrived in the country on Tuesday night for his three-day official visit.
The aircraft carrying Widodo landed at the Maharlika Presidential Hangar at the Villamor Air Base around 8:05 p.m.
Present during Widodo’s arrival were the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E Agus Widjojo, and Madame Ranny Moerni Cahyani, along with Defense Attaché Col. Bambang Wijonarko and Fransisca Donna Carmelita.
Secretary Carlito Galvez, Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Gina A. Jamoralin, Undersecretary Reichel P. Quiñones, and Pasay City Mayor Imelda G. Calixto-Rubiano were also present.
Widodo is set to meet with President Marcos on Jan. 10 for a bilateral meeting at Malacañang.
President Marcos is expected to raise various issues during the meeting such as the request for clemency for Filipina death row convict Mary Jane Veloso, the tension in the South China Sea, and boosting the ties between the two nations.
President Marcos visited Indonesia in September last year. Both the Philippines and Indonesia are founding members of ASEAN.
The Philippines and Indonesia are set to celebrate this November the 75th anniversary of their formal diplomatic relations.
