Admin approval rating up to 61% in last Pahayag survey for 2023

The administration’s approval rating surged by eight percentage points to 61 percent in the last quarter, driven by increased ratings in North-Central Luzon, South Luzon, and the Visayas, results of the Pahayag 2023 End of the Year Survey showed.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. logged a performance rating of 59 percent during the last three months of the year.

The non-commissioned survey, conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia Inc., said the administration “witnessed a notable recovery” from its 53 percent performance rating in the third quarter.

The survey said among the issues affecting the performance of President Marcos’ administration was inflation, which was ranked as the most pressing concern at 44 percent.

The survey also analyzed the performance ratings of newly elected officials, with Senator Raffy Tulfo maintaining his position as the top performer with a 71 percent rating, followed by Vice President Sara Duterte at 60 percent.

“Vice President Duterte faced challenges related to the issue ofconfidential and intelligence funds for the Office of the Vice President and Department of Education,” the surv ey said.

The survey noted that the following senators “experienced recovery and gains from the previous quarter” – Joel Villanueva (from 47 percent to 53 percent), Sherwin Gatchalian (from 47 percent to 51 percent), Mark Villar (from 41 percent to 46 percent), Loren Legarda (from 45 percent to 49 percent), Juan Miguel Zubiri (from 47 percent to 53 percent), Risa Hontiveros (from 45 percent to 49 percent), Alan Peter Cayetano (from 38 percent to 44 percent), JV Ejercito (from 36 percent to 41 percent), and Jinggoy Estrada (from 32 percent to 36 percent).

The survey was conducted from Nov. 29 to Dec. 4 using purposive sampling composed of 1,500 respondents randomly drawn from the market research panel of over 200,000 Filipinos maintained by the Singapore office of PureSpectrum, a US-based panel marketplace with a multinational presence.

The sample was restricted to registered Filipino voters.
