The Philippine Navy has appointed PO2 Kristine Soguilon-Lim as its first Goodwill Ambassador for Culture and Arts, marking a historic collaboration between the military and the arts community. This is the first time such a title has been introduced within the Philippine Navy and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
At a ceremony held at the Philippine Navy Headquarters, Vice Admiral Toribio Adaci Jr. commended Soguilon-Lim for her global efforts in promoting and preserving Philippine culture and arts.
“Ms. Soguilon-Lim’s dedication and artistic talent have inspired audiences worldwide, serving as a model for future generations,” Adaci stated.
Known as the “Artist on a Mission” for her fusion of traditional and modern art, Soguilon-Lim has actively used art to celebrate the Philippines’ rich heritage.
“I am honored by this recognition and see it as a privilege to connect the worlds of culture and defense,” she expressed her appreciation for the new role.
Soguilon-Lim also talked about the significance of her responsibilities and even called on her supporters to join her in this endeavor.
“This marks the beginning of a significant and impactful journey for the Philippine Navy, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and our nation. I cannot do this alone, so I am depending on the support of my allies and supporters in this new role,” she added.
In a statement, the naval agency underscored its dedication to cultural diplomacy and highlighted art’s role in promoting unity and respect. The partnership is anticipated to foster future initiatives that enhance cultural connections and encourage peace through artistic expression.
