The work-from-home (WFH) and hybrid work models have gained popularity among companies and employees since the pandemic, with many organizations reporting success in implementing these setups. 

According to recent data from JobStreet by SEEK, a leading online job portal, over a thousand job ads for remote or hybrid work have been posted in the past three months.

While some employers express concerns about potential issues like increased isolation and decreased productivity, JobStreet by SEEK argues that these work arrangements can enhance productivity. The company identifies three key benefits:

Flexible work schedules

Flexible work schedules are a significant advantage of WFH arrangements. In a hybrid setup, employees typically alternate between remote work and on-site reporting. This flexibility allows workers to balance their professional and personal lives, leading to higher job satisfaction and increased productivity. 

JobStreet by SEEK’s “Future of Recruitment” report highlighted that work-life balance is a crucial factor for employees when considering job offers. Additionally, the 2024 Job Happiness Survey found that employees in remote or hybrid setups report better work-life balance than those working fully on-site.

Expanded talent pool

WFH and hybrid arrangements can broaden a company’s talent pool beyond its main office locations, attracting a more diverse workforce. This approach enables companies to tap into talent from rural areas, enhancing overall productivity. 

“Many companies are based in major cities like Manila, Cebu, or Davao, limiting opportunities for talent from rural areas,” said Dannah Majarocon, Managing Director of JobStreet by SEEK Philippines. “Remote work allows companies to recruit skilled workers who might not otherwise have the opportunity to live and work near an office site.”
