The Gateway Art Fair made a triumphant return for its second edition at a larger venue, following the success of its inaugural run last year.
The event took place from October 5 to 8 at the Quantum Skyview of the New Gateway Mall 2, in line with the theme “Bridge Connections.”
Organized by the J. Amado Araneta Foundation (JAAF)’s Gateway Gallery to coincide with the celebration of Museums and Galleries Month, the four-day event aimed to be a platform for showcasing the talents of local artists, art groups, and communities.
The 2023 Gateway Art Fair featured a total of 14 art exhibitors, five participating schools, and five merchants offering their art and creative products. The event formally opened on October 5 with a ceremonial ribbon cutting attended by art exhibitors, art groups, art suppliers, art enthusiasts, the Quezon City tourism department, and executives from JAAF and Araneta City.
The ceremony was led by Jerry Yapo, Director at the University of the Philippines Los Banos Office for Initiatives in Culture and Arts; Ma. Teresa Tirona, Head of the Quezon City Tourism Department; Diane Romero, Executive Director of JAAF; Lorna Fabian, Araneta City VP for Leasing; and Gregorio Apolonio, Gateway Gallery Curator.
Notable exhibitors at the 2023 Gateway Art Fair included Artists for Peace, DryBrush Gallery, Artipolo Art Group, Vice Versa of Batangas, Benedict Abigan, Pinta Pinay, Nanola Art Gallery, Lucban Arts Guild, Hubog Sining, Jaspreet Kaur, Marie Claire De Guzman, Thombayan Art Space, Art Show Philippines, and Arthenticity.
Art merchants included the Gateway Gallery Museum Shop, Jess Navarro, Law of Artraction, Rhea’s Bag, and QC Artist Circle.
Participating schools featured were Miriam College Applied Art Society, Feati University, University of the Philippines – College of Fine Arts, University of Santo Tomas, and the Philippine Women’s University.
The four-day art fair was further enriched by daily art demonstrations from some of the most exciting Filipino art groups and artists. The 2023 Gateway Art Fair was open to the public daily from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
