The Taguig City government has announced that 507 beneficiaries of the Special Program for the Employment of Students and Out-of-School Youth (SPES) have received their salaries at the Taguig City University auditorium.
This marks the first batch of salary disbursements for those who completed 20 days of work in various local government offices.
The SPES program helps students and out-of-school youth gain practical work experience, which they can add to their resumes. Participants typically engage in tasks such as data entry, document filing, and providing administrative support.
The city government funded 60% of the salaries, with the remaining 40% provided by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through remittance centers. The earnings help beneficiaries support their education and daily allowances.
Aligned with Mayor Laarni Cayetano’s vision of a Transformative, Lively, and Caring City, the SPES program equips the youth with essential skills to become productive members of society.
This year, the program expanded to 3,000 beneficiaries, up from 2,000 last year, reflecting the City’s ongoing commitment to youth empowerment.
