The city government of Las Piñas has announced the opening of the Crisis Center for Women and Children in Santa Cecilia Village, Barangay Talon Dos.
Mayor Imelda Aguilar and Vice Mayor April Aguilar led the May 8 inauguration as part of the local government’s program to help women and children who are victims of domestic violence, exploitation, and sexual abuse.
The crisis center will provide a comprehensive program and services such as accommodation, counseling, psychosocial services, recovery, rehabilitation programs, and livelihood assistance to the victims.
With the support of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the city government, the center aims to give victims continued hope and help them return to a healthy life.
The facility is a 24-hour residential care center that has a capacity of 20 beds. It also provides protection and recovery for the victims of abandonment, maltreatment, and bullying.
The various programs and services offered include treatment and rehabilitation, group life and home care, health and nutrition, livelihood skills training, social services, legal services, recreational and cultural activities, spiritual enrichment, modular sessions for women, self-enhancement skills development, gender sensitivity sessions, and other care services for children.
A victim’s stay at the crisis center can last from six months to one year, depending on the social worker’s assessment of the intervention plan.
The center is operated by the head, supervising and registered social workers, houseparents, caregivers, and other program and administrative staff.
