The Iloilo Provincial Capitol is set to transform into a “Christmas Village sa Makabagong Pilipinas,” a holiday project worth P4,010,046 with a festive theme to attract locals and tourists alike.
This year’s budget to welcome the Christmas season was up from last year’s P3.5 million. The decorations are designed to create a stunning holiday experience, according to the provincial government.
The project allocates P2.5 million for Christmas decor and P1.4 million for LED lights and other accessories, ensuring a captivating visual display.
Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. emphasized the vision behind the theme, saying, “We want Iloilo to be recognized as a Christmas destination, bringing joy to Ilonggos and visitors this season.”
The grand lighting ceremony will take place on December 6 at 5 PM at the Capitol Grounds. It will feature a lantern parade with various groups, including provincial government employees, followed by the opening of a food festival that will run until the end of December.
This year’s theme reflects the spirit of a progressive and united Philippines, offering a celebration that combines tradition with modern charm. Visitors can look forward to an enchanting display and vibrant activities that celebrate community and the season of giving.
