The Tingog Party-list group led by Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez; the group’s nominees in Congress, Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez and Rep. Jude Acidre, in partnership with Roche and Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC) has launched a state-of-the-art HPV-DNA Screening platform for cervical cancer, Cobas 5800, the first fully automated one in the Eastern Visayas region.

The party-list group’s project for women, dubbed “2030 Mission Leapfrog Philippines” (MLP) is a groundbreaking move towards improving women’s healthcare as the screening platform represents significant advancement in the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer.  Moreover, the new facility aims to provide women with access to the most modern and effective diagnostic tools available.

”Tingog’s unwavering support to advancing public health through Leapfrog underscores shared commitment among Roche and EVMC in enhancing healthcare services and improving health outcomes for women in Eastern Visayas,” said Acidre.

“The launch of this screening platform is a big step in ensuring that women in our region receive the best possible care.”

Acidre, along with the chairman of the EVMC Department of Pathology, Dr. Cleocita A. Portula; the head of the EVMC Medical Center, Dr. Joseph Michael A. Jaro; the Department of Health (DOH) Eastern Visayas Regional Director, Dr. Exuperia Sabalberino; and the chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Dr. Rufina Lynor Barrot-Gler attended the launching on June 29.

The EVMC and Roche partnership aims to support the 2030 World Health Organization elimination of Cervical Cancer that aims to have 90 percent of girls fully vaccinated against HPV by the time they reach age 15, 70 percent of women are screened with a high-performance test by age 35 to 45, precancerous lesions are treated early, and 90 percent of women identified with cervical disease receive treatment.

Roche aided the installation of the Cobast 500 system and accessories at the EVMC premises.
