THE Southern Police District (SPD) has arrested 59 suspects in a continuing crackdown against illegal drugs in the southern part of Metro Manila.

SPD director Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete said the week-long anti-narcotics operation from May 29 to June 3 also resulted in the seizure of more than P2.1 million worth of prohibited drugs and other substances, including methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu; cannabis, and kush.

“This significant haul demonstrates the SPD’s unwavering commitment to eradicate the problem of illegal drugs. We thank the community for their support and cooperation in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs, aiming to build a safer and more prosperous future for all residents of southern Metro Manila,” said Rosete.

“We in the police force are serious in our campaign against all forms of crime and illegal drugs. We will not stop until we get rid of this long-standing problem,” he said.

Rosete said the SPD is also enforcing the PNP’s anti-crime campaign dubbed as SACLEO, or the simultaneous anti-criminality and law enforcement operations, aimed to ensure peace and order in the community.

SACLEO is an all-out police operation simultaneously conducted in identified areas against illegal drug personalities, most wanted persons, bearers of loose firearms, illegal gamblers, and city ordinance violators.
