The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has announced the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and the seizure of P85 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Makati City.

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. identified the suspect as Aureo Cabus Jr.

A team comprising the Regional Special Operations Group, Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, Special Drug Enforcement Unit of Makati City Police Station, Makati SWAT, Makati Substation 6, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) carried out the operation along Osias Street in Barangay Poblacion.

Seized from the suspect were 24 plastic sachets containing 12.5 kilos of shabu, drug paraphernalia, identification cards, bank cards, and a car key for a sedan bearing plate number NCD 7353.

Cabus was also arrested in May 2021 during a PDEA-NCR buy-bust operation in Rizal Drive, BGC, Taguig City.

Nartatez commended his men for the latest accomplishment.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) meanwhile seized a parcel containing 323 grams of kush, or high-grade marijuana, with an estimated street value of P4.5 million at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.

The illegal drugs were discovered upon profiling and examination of shipments.

The parcel, which was misdeclared as a “gift,” was found to contain high-grade marijuana from Toronto, Canada, and consigned to an individual in Quezon City.

Field testing conducted by the Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF) and PDEA confirmed the substance as kush marijuana.

The consignee will be subjected to further investigation and prosecution for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA No. 9165) in relation to the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (RA No. 10863).

BOC Commissioner Bien Rubio said: “The BOC remains committed in stopping the entry of illegal importation of drugs and other anti-social goods.”

District Collector Yasmin O. Mapa, said the BOC-NAIA will continue to enforce strict measures against the entry of illegal drugs at the borders.
