Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Mayor Laarni Cayetano, and other local government and police officials also attended the event.

The laboratory will be a 10-story building with two underground levels, and will house advanced forensic laboratories capable of analyzing different types of evidence, from physical to digital.

With expertise in areas like behavioral forensics, pathology, anthropology, scene investigation, and ballistics, the laboratory’s forensic analysis will be vital in solving crimes, holding people accountable, and protecting residents.

Made possible through the funding of Senator Cayetano, the facility will be home to a highly skilled team of forensic experts.

Forensic science is a crucial component of the criminal justice system, involving the analysis of evidence from crime scenes to develop objective findings for the investigation and prosecution of criminals or to absolve innocent individuals.

This field uses various practices like DNA, fingerprints, bloodstain patterns, firearms, ballistics, toxicology, and fire debris analysis to ensure legal admissible evidence and criminal procedure.

Senator Cayetano expressed gratitude to the police force for their unwavering commitment to uphold the law, and attributing the approval of funds for the facility to their exemplary service.

For her part, Mayor Cayetano reiterated her support for crucial infrastructure projects like the crime laboratory, saying the new and modern facility is aligned with her vision of creating a city that is transformative, lively, and caring.

“We are confident that this state-of-the-art Forensic Laboratory will be the way to enhance the law enforcement ability of our police force to deliver justice and peace, especially now, where they are about to become more equipped to perform their duties,” the mayor said.

“I’m very grateful to Senator Alan for helping us to achieve this milestone, as well as to our partners in public service who made this possible, and especially to the Lord, for the guidance and grace he gave us,” she added.
