Abbott has introduced Similac Essencia®+, a new milk formula designed to support children’s growth and development. This formula includes five human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs), BB-12 probiotics, and nucleotides, promoting brain, immune, and digestive health.
With 70 percent of the immune system residing in the gut, Abbott highlights the importance of gut health, especially for children born via C-section or those frequently using antibiotics. These factors can disrupt beneficial gut bacteria, putting immunity at risk.

Abbott has been a leader in HMO research since introducing the first pediatric formula with 2′-FL HMO in 2016. Similac Essencia®+ aims to restore gut balance and enhance immunity, potentially reducing infections.
