The La Union Tourism Summit 2024 emphasized the connection between tourism, peace, and inclusivity. Held at the La Union Convention Center in San Fernando, the event gathered over 200 stakeholders, including hotel owners, tour operators, and other industry professionals.
The summit, themed “Tourism and Peace,” aimed to equip participants with sustainable tourism practices and encourage collaboration.
Key speakers, such as Dr. John Paolo Rivera and Dr. Ramon Benedicto Alampay, discussed tourism’s role in fostering peace, inclusivity, and community unity.
Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David stressed that peace is essential for La Union’s tourism growth, and maintaining this is a shared responsibility among all stakeholders.
With 237,868 tourist arrivals and over ₱462 million in tourism receipts in the first half of 2024, La Union continues to strengthen its tourism sector.
The summit highlighted new strategies to promote La Union as a model of peace and sustainable tourism, aiming to attract more visitors while preserving the province’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
