The Securities and Exchange Commission said over the weekend it secured membership in the Association of National Numbering Agencies—a global association dedicated to the support of efficient capital markets through the use of widely-embraced International Organization for Standardization standards.
The SEC said the move is part of its efforts to develop the domestic capital market.
ANNA confirmed SEC membership, as a partner, during its recent 30th anniversary general meeting, hosted by Euroclear Bank SA/NV in Brussels.
“We thank the Association of National Numbering Agencies for welcoming the commission as its newest partner in making the financial world a more efficient, safer and more stable environment for investors and the financial institutions that serve them through the use of standard identifiers for securities,” SEC chairman Emilio Aquino said.
Aquino said SEC’ s membership in ANNA is a significant step toward making the Philippine market more accessible, transparent and secure.
