Citicore Solar Batangas 1 Inc. (CSBat1) is seeking an approval from the Energy Regulatory Commission for authority to develop and own dedicated point-to-point facilities to connect its 50-megawatt Luntal solar power project to the Luzon grid.

CSBat1, a unit of Citicore Renewable Energy Corp., wants to connect the Luntal solar project within the vicinity of Barangays Luntal and Bayudbod in Tuy, Batangas to the Grid through the development of connection facilities composed of plant switchyard and transmission line.

CSBat1, in filing with the ERC, proposed to develop and own interconnection facilities at cost of P129.186 million.

“Given its aggressive timeline, the completion of the project and the dedicated facility Project within its projected timeframe is critical to ensure that additional capacity to the Luzon Grid becomes available in a timely manner,” it said.

The company said Republic Act No. 9513, or the Renewable Energy Act of 2008, mandates that CSBat1 should enjoy the benefit of priority dispatch as a generating unit utilizing an intermittent renewable energy resource.

CSBat1 plans to construct a dedicated point-to-point facility to test, commission and dispatch from the project, which will connect the project to the Luzon grid through National Grid Corporation of the Philippines’ 69 kV Tuy Substation.

“The said project will be connected to collector switch which is then connected to NGCP Tuy Substation through approximately 4km 69 kV line. The collector switch and the 4km 69 kV line will be constructed by CSBat1 for its Lumbangan solar farm,” it said.
