The National Irrigation Administration Pampanga-Bataan Irrigation Management Office (PamBat IMO) distributed 100 shallow tube wells (STWs) and engines to Pampanga farmers on Oct. 18, 2024.
The STWs aim to provide irrigation water supply to farmlands and increase rice production. Irrigators Associations (IAs) and farmers from the municipalities of Porac, Lubao, Guagua, Sta. Rita, and Floridablanca are the beneficiaries of the program.
It said the STWs are expected to enhance the irrigation capacity of IAs, ensuring more efficient water distribution in their respective service areas. Better rice production and cropping intensity can be attained, thus increasing agricultural output and farmers’ income.
Senate Committee on Finance chairperson Senator Imee Marcos and Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo joined NIA Central Luzon officials during the event.
Senator Marcos presided over the Senate Budget Hearing for NIA’s FY 2025 proposed budget. She continuously supports NIA’s programs to strengthen the agricultural sector and enhance irrigation infrastructure across the nation.
NIA’s efforts to improve irrigation systems contributes to the nation’s food security. It is a testament to the agency’s broader mission of strengthening agricultural infrastructure and promote sustainable farming practices.
