Agricultural solutions company Cargill teamed up with Agri-Sagana Project in Cagayan and Isabela with the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) and the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) to plant 75,000 high-yield coconut seedlings under the CocoGrow project in Sarangani province.

“Through this partnership, we aim to improve the livelihoods of Sarangani’s coconut farmers in a safe, responsible, and sustainable manner, while also meeting the growing demand for sustainable coconut oil,” said Cargill copra and palm origination commercial director Jonathan Sumpaico.

The project aims to replace aging and low-yield trees with faster-growing varieties for the benefit of 500 smallholder farmers.

The CocoGrow project is expected to have a positive and lasting impact on Sarangani’s coconut industry, improving farmers’ livelihoods and contributing to the region’s economic growth.

Cargill is a company focused on supporting farmers to thrive in the local and global marketplace.

It creates connections with farmers of all scales to increase their productivity and profitability by promoting sustainable, innovative agricultural practices, providing inclusive market access and building resilient agricultural communities.
