The Philippine creative industry is seeking to expand its presence within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
Rep. Christopher de Venecia, chairman of the House special committee on creative industry and performing arts, is championing local and regional collaborations to empower creative communities.
“We’ve forged partnerships with Bradford, England, and Quezon City, which is actively pursuing a UNESCO Creative City of Film designation through the Department of Trade and Industry,” de Venecia said during the Philippine-Indonesia Creative Economy Roundtable Forum held at the Sheraton Hotel on Wednesday.
The Philippines hopes to foster more dialogue, collaboration and partnerships across regions and countries to collectively empower each ASEAN nation in the creative industries.
“The Indonesian Creative Cities Network serves as an inspiration for the Philippines as it strengthens its own Philippine Creative Cities Network, now institutionalized under the creative industry law. Several projects and activities under the Malikhaing Pinoy initiative mirror the essence of this network,” de Venecia said.
