The Board of Investments (BOI) encouraged locators at Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga to switch to renewable energy, saying they would qualify for incentives under the law.

The BOI conducted the “Make REshift Happen” roadshow for locators at the Clark Freeport to promote incentives for energy efficiency and conservation projects.

About 17 Clark manufacturing locators attended the roadshow to learn the new guidelines for registering such projects under Republic Act No. 11285.

The series of roadshows highlights the BOI’s commitment as the lead investment promotion agency to foster cooperation among investment promotion agencies.

BOI director Maria Rosario Dominguez lauded Clark Development Corp. for being the first IPA to host the session for its locators.

She said the session aimed to promote energy efficiency and conservation policies to encourage firms to adopt these practices. She added that this would contribute to the Philippines’ transition to a green and resilient economy.

Dominguez emphasized the critical role of renewable energy projects in enhancing energy efficiency and reducing power demand. She said energy efficiency and conservation are vital for boosting competitiveness and contributing to a sustainable global economy.

“This session is part of our ongoing efforts to gradually transition to renewable energy, supported by a strong partnership between the government and the private sector,” she said.

CDC chief executive Agnes Devanadera stressed the importance of the roadshow in informing firms about available incentives for switching to renewable energy.

“We are fortunate to have this forum. It is timely that we are discussing this, as we recognize the crucial role of the power sector,” she said.

“With the combined efforts of our locators and the private sector, there is no reason why we won’t succeed. This forum is not just about information dissemination — it’s about taking actionable steps,” Devanadera said.
