Average annual family income in PH rose 15% to P353,230 in 2023

The average annual income of Filipino families in 2023 increased 15 percent to P353,230 from P307,190 in 2021, the Philippine Statistics Authority said Thursday.

The figure also surpassed the P313,450 recorded in 2018, according to the PSA survey.

PSA Undersecretary and national statistician Claire Dennis Mapa said Filipino families spent an average of P258,050 in 2023, an increase of 12.8 percent from P228,800 in 2021. In 2018, the average annual family expenditure was P238,750.

Among the regions, the National Capital Region (NCR) registered the highest average annual family income in 2023 at P513,520.

This was followed by CALABARZON with P426,530 and Central Luzon with P375,240.

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) recorded the lowest average annual family income with P206,880, followed by Zamboanga Peninsula with P257,140 and Negros Island Region with P266,290.

Similar with average annual family income, NCR recorded the highest average annual family expenditure among the regions in 2023 at P385,050, followed by CALABARZON at P310,320 and Central Luzon at P298,700.

BARMM, MIMAROPA and Eastern Visayas registered the lowest average annual family expenditure in 2023.

All regions saw an increasing average annual family expenditure from 2021 to 2023. Zamboanga Peninsula had the largest increase in the average annual family expenditure from 2021 to 2023 at 20.8 percent, while the Cordillera Administrative Region posted the lowest increase at 2.1 percent.
