The Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) and the University of the Philippines (UP) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish the anti-trust body’s new office at UP Diliman campus in Quezon City.

The agreement, signed on July 30, 2024, will see the PCC lease a 1,620-square-meter plot for 25 years, with an option for extension.

The PCC, an independent, quasi-judicial body tasked to implement Republic Act No. 10667, currently holds office at Vertis North Corporate Center 1 on North Ave, Quezon City.

“UP has remained at the forefront of academic excellence and public service. It is PCC’s honor to be associated with the state university and contribute to nation-building,” said PCC chairperson Michael Aguinaldo.

The PCC, with support from the Asian Development Bank, seeks to establish an academic center of excellence in competition law and policy at the UP College of Law aside from the new office.

The PCC is the country’s primary antitrust agency that promotes fair business practices and benefits consumers.
