PLDT Global, the international arm of PLDT Inc., expanded its global network with a new point-of-presence (PoP) in Guam.

This adds to their existing PoPs in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Los Angeles.

A POP refers to an access point that connects to other connections to the internet.

“At PLDT Global, our commitment to client success shines through with the Guam point-of-presence (PoP). By expanding our network infrastructure to Guam, we are not only enhancing connectivity but also facilitating seamless communication between Asia-Pacific and the US,” PLDT Global president and chief executive Albert Villa-Real said.

“This empowers businesses and individuals across the region to thrive in an interconnected world,” he said.

PLDT Global’s Guam PoP provides a direct Philippines-to-Guam route via the Asia-America Gateway international submarine cable, from its VITRO Makati data center to GTA Teleguam’s GNC iX data center in Piti, Guam.

PLDT Global, as a technology services provider of high-quality communications infrastructure and innovation, has tapped its longtime partner GTA Teleguam to launch this strategic PoP this month.

“Guam is standing at the crossroads of international connectivity, and together with our partner PLDT Global, we are hoping to unlock unparalleled interconnection opportunities to our ecosystem of carriers across the Asia Pacific region,” GTA TeleGuam Holdings, LLC president and chief executive Roland Certeza said.

The Asia-Pacific region is home to over 4.6 billion people and represents over 35 percent of global GDP, making connectivity crucial for its economic growth.

The Guam PoP strategically positions PLDT to address the increasing demand for reliable, high-speed connectivity, providing unparalleled access to U.S. networks for data transfer, cloud computing, and digital services.
