The Department of Tourism said it signed eight separate memoranda of understanding (MOU) on May 11, 2024 with eight sectoral partners based in New Clark City to train frontliners on the world-renowned Filipino brand of service excellence (FBSE).

The visit to Clark coincided with the 51st founding anniversary of the DOT.

“To be honest, I really could have just spent my day at our Central Office to mark the anniversary of the DOT, but I chose to be here if only to deliver personally my utmost gratitude, for championing Philippine tourism and pushing forward to the consciousness of the global community the good work that our tourism front liners are doing through the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Program,” said DOT Secretary Christina Frasco in her speech before stakeholders and partners in Clark.

She underscored the significance of FBSE in the hospitality industry to achieve a holistic branding for the Philippines.

The BCDA and stakeholders signed the MOU in preparation for the Central Luzon’s industrial and business district and for the anticipated MICE Conference on July 10 to 12 this year.

MICECON is the largest gathering of meetings, incentive travel, conventions and exhibitions professionals in the country and has become a sought-after event as it strengthens all sectors involved in the MICE industry into one cohesive and comprehensive educational program.

“In anticipation of the thousands of delegates expected at the event, organizers are equipping tourism front liners with the necessary skills to welcome and handle guests,” she said.

The agreement also institutionalized the DOT’s partnership with Clark stakeholders.

The DOT surpassed its 2023 goal to train 100,000 tourism workers by equipping over 127,000 tourism workers with new skills under the FBSE.
