FFCAAI youth panel hosts webinar on emotional healing

The Federation of Filipino Chinese Alumni Associations Inc. (FFCAAI) Youth Committee held an online seminar with the theme “Mending the Heart: A Journey Through Emotional Healing” on Sept. 11, 2024 via Zoom.

The webinar focused on navigating the complexities of emotional recovery from strained and broken relationships.

Dr. Joyce Piap Go, a respected Filipino-Chinese life coach, speaker, author and broadcaster was the speaker during the event.

Go shared her expertise on emotional healing and emphasized the importance of identifying and addressing injuries in strained relationships.

She introduced the five stages of grief framework as a tool for understanding and managing the emotional impact of relationship severance.

Her insights included embracing failures, practicing self-compassion, maintaining a support system, and cultivating gratitude despite challenging circumstances.

Go graduated with a Doctor of Education in Christian Clinical Counseling from the Asian Graduate School of Theology and a Masters from Divinity from Singapore Bible College.  She is recognized for her life coaching and counseling work at Joyful Hope Counseling Center of New Millenium Evangelical Church.

Her latest book “Bee Forgiving” was launched at the 2024 Manila International Book Fair.

A total of 235 participants, including FFCAAI officers, representatives from various organizations, educational institutions and mental health enthusiasts participated in the activity.

The webinar also highlighted FFCAAI’s efforts to advocate for mental health and education. It was adopted as a mandatory requirement for high school and college students of Mater Divinae Gratiae College Inc. in Eastern Samar.

FFCAAI president Golden David highlighted the organization’s commitment to mental well-being.

“The FFCAAI, with our 28 member alumni associations, is deeply committed to fostering unity and promoting mental well-being among our constituent alumni.” David said.

“Today’s discussion is of immense significance not only within our alma mater’s campuses but also extends its importance to our workplaces, family circles, and broader community.” he said.

The FFCAAI Youth Committee regularly organizes activities aimed at addressing the needs of young alumni from member associations. It is dedicated to fostering growth and development through various educational and support initiatives.
