Binondo photo exhibit highlights Filipino-Chinese heritage, achievements

As you stroll along the ground floor of Lucky Chinatown mall in Binondo, you’ll spot the eye-catching photo exhibit with the theme “Chinese by Blood, Filipino by Heart” or “Dugong Tsino, Pusong Pinoy.”

The exhibit highlights the rich heritage and achievements of prominent Filipino-Chinese individuals, showcasing the blend of Chinese and Filipino cultures through their lives and stories.

It also serves as a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII).

The FFCCCII plays a pivotal role in nurturing the Chinese-Filipino community, fostering economic growth and strengthening cultural ties.

Among the prominent figures featured in the exhibit are Dr. Cecilio Pedro, the FFCCCII president and owner of Lamoiyan Corp., known for the popular Hapee toothpaste.

Also highlighted is EJ Obiena, a celebrated pole vaulter with a notable athletic career.

Jose Mari Chan, renowned for his contributions as a singer-songwriter and businessman, is another key personality.

Chinkee Tan, a prominent wealth coach and financial educator and Cathy Yang, a leading media personality and corporate leader, are also featured.

The exhibit also includes Richard Poon, a well-known singer-songwriter and TV personality as well as Jessica Soho, an acclaimed newscaster and TV host.

Chris Tiu, a former basketball player and television host, and Janeena Chan, a versatile host and artist, further enrich the display.

Gretchen Ho, a former volleyball player and popular host, rounds out the list of distinguished individuals.

The display showcases the shared values and deep connections between the Chinese and Filipino cultures, portrayed through the lives and contributions of those featured.

To further engage with the celebration of identity and heritage, viewers can tune in to episodes of “Chinese by Blood, Filipino by Heart” on One News every Sunday at 8 p.m., with replays on Saturdays at 8:30 p.m.
