Cebu Pacific cargo business up by 27%

Cebu Pacific said revenues from its cargo business rose 27 percent in the first half of the year on stronger demand amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The airline of the Gokongwei Group said revenues from cargo flown reached P2.81 billion in the first six months of 2021, up from P2.22 billion in the same period last year. “¯

Cargo sales in the first half accounted for 48 percent of total revenues. Cebu Pacific transported 53.8 million kilograms worth of shipment from January to June this year.

CEB in the second quarter of 2021 carried 28.7 million kilograms of goods across its domestic network and international destinations.

International cargo remains a key component with top commodities such as electronics, automotive parts, aquaculture products, medical goods, fruits and flowers.”¯

Throughout the pandemic, CEB remained agile by exploring”¯alternative revenue streams to boost cargo operations. Some of these initiatives included”¯the introduction of”¯hybrid”¯flights with one sector carrying passengers, while the other loading purely cargo.
