Cebu Pac nixes flights to Dubai

Cebu Pacific has cancelled its flights to and from Dubai from June 1 to 15 after the Philippine government extended the ban on travelers coming from the United Arab Emirates, upon the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

Affected passengers have been informed via contact details provided in the booking, the airline said in a statement. They may select their preferred option through the Manage Booking portal on the Cebu Pacific website up to 30 days from date of departure, it added.

Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is pushing to include people working from home in the government's A4 (front-liners in essential sectors) vaccination priority listing.

“That is my advocacy, to include those who are working from home. Work from home workers are included in A4. It does not mean that if they are working from home, they no longer visit their office. They also go there but most of the time they are at home,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said in Tuesday's Laging Handa briefing. Bello said the measure will benefit around 16,000 workers in Metro Manila who are working from home. The government is set to start this month the vaccination of the A4 priority group. Joel E. Also, Rep. Alfredo Garbin. Jr of Ako-Bicol party-list described as "great news" the pronouncement of National Task Force vaccine czar Carlito Galvez that the government will no longer get half of the COVID vaccines bought by the private sector.

"With this crucial change of mind and heart of the NTF, perhaps the private sector can vaccinate not just their own employees but the household members of their employees as well," Garbin said.

In another development, Customs personnel at Ninoy Aquino International Airport are preparing for the arrival of more COVID-19 vaccine shipments, including those coming from the United States, this month.

Port of NAIA district collector Carmelita Talusan said top Customs and Department of Health officials met and discussed the anticipatedarrival of vaccine supplies in the coming days.
