A suspected drug dealer abandoned his car loaded with at least P37.3 million worth of marijuana to avoid a police checkpoint in Barangay Lacnog, Tabuk Sunday.

Kalinga Police Provincial Director Col. Davy Vicente Limmong said those manning the checkpoint saw an approaching black Mitsubishi Adventure that suddenly swerved toward an irrigation access road.

The suspect then fled on foot, prompting policemen to give chase.

While the driver was able to escape, policemen recovered around 311 kilograms of marijuana bricks inside the abandoned vehicle.

Authorities identified the driver as a certain Sabado Guimba.
