ERC rejects FDC deal with Daneco

The Energy Regulatory Commission denied the petition for provisional authority sought by Davao Del Norte Electric Cooperative Inc. and FDC Misamis Power Corp. on their new electric power purchase agreement.

Daneco’s new power contract involves a 15-megawatt supply-agreement with FDCMPC, a Misamis Occidental-based power plant, for its baseload need.

“Daneco and FDCMPC were unable to clearly establish through their submitted documents the urgency and the necessity of the grant of a PA/IR for the 15-MW supply from the EPPA based on the submitted documents related to Daneco’s supply-demand scenario,” ERC said in a recent decision.

The Davao del Norte electric cooperative claimed its current power suppliers would not meet the needs of its consumers by 2021 because of supply deficit of 24 MW.

The ERC said, however, that the data Daneco submitted did not sufficiently support its claims.
