The makers of Shakey’s Pizza’s plant-based burger Goood Burger finally launched its meat-free lineup, including the aforementioned patty.
The increasing consumer interest in plant-based diets and the rising awareness of animal rights are expected to further drive the market growth of meat-free meat alternatives, according to a published study by Grand View Research.
With a growing market of consumers looking for healthier products and vegan options, Century Pacific Foods, Inc. (CNPF), the food manufacturing arm of the Po family, officially launched unMeat in February, its plant-based meat brand.
“We believe unMeat is a valuable addition to our brand and product portfolio as more and more Filipinos embark on healthier lifestyles. At the same time, this initiative supports both our ambition to become a healthier food company and to do business in a more sustainable and responsible way,” CNPF executive chairman Christopher Po said earlier.
The brand boasts a plant-based meat lineup that, CNPF senior executive Nikki Dizon said, “unbelievably and undeniably looks, feels, and tastes like meat.” Variants include Nuggets, Hungarian Sausages, Giniling (minced meat), and Burger Patties.
“One of the biggest concerns about plant-based foods is that they are not delicious or as pleasing to the palate as real meat, but our Nutrition Science team took that as a challenge,” added Dizon.
CNPF’s plant-based meat line is made with “simple but nutritious ingredients” with no cholesterol, trans fat, egg, and dairy, but with the same mouth-feel as real meat.
During the press launch last week, Chef Sau del Rosario, who sampled the products, said, “the taste is like you got it from the oven. It’s tasty, it’s clean, and it’s very delicious.”
“I would put this in my menu,” enthused Chef Sau.
Following unMeat’s successful initial rollout as Shakey’s Goood Burger, CNPF announced more upcoming partnerships with other restaurant brands in the country. Additionally, the company’s Global Brands Team has started offering the product to customers across a network of 80 countries such as the USA, Singapore, China, and the Middle East.
“This newest addition to our product portfolio further strengthens our company’s mission to provide affordable nutrition for all. UnMeat is very affordable and delicious!” added Dizon.
The unMeat product line is available in supermarkets and specialty stores nationwide, as well as on Shopee and Lazada. Prices range from P120 to P135.
