Two new officials will now help run the affairs of the Gymnastics Association of Philippines.

GAP president Cynthia Carrion said this after accepting the resignation of their secretary general Bettina Pou.

Pou, who has been around for the last 10 years, formally quit last Aug. 14 after getting sick recently.

Susan Tayag, a parent, will take the place of Pou in the board.

Jude Turcuato, the newly-appointed Head of Sports at PLDT/SMART Communications Inc., has been named vice president.

Carrion said their appointments will be confirmed during an online board meeting on August 24 three days before the general assembly on the 27th.

The appointment of new officials was made known after the GAP got more help from the Philippine Sports Commission for a total of around P4-million.

The financial assistance has been assured for the Tokyo Olympics-bound Carlos Yulo's training.

The release of P2-million from the PSC will help Yulo continue to avail of two training halls for his workouts.

The Manny V. Pangilinan Sports Foundation (MVPSF) has also reached out to the GAP and to Yulo with an additional funding of P800,000.
