Clark International Airport resumed operations on June 5 to accommodate flights carrying returning overseas Filipino workers.
“We opened Clark Airport, so we can decentralize the arrival of our OFWs. It will be a lot swifter and more comfortable for them to return via Clark Airport, and we can easily attend to their needs,” said Bases Conversion and Development Authority president and chief executive Vince Dizon.
Dizon said the plan was to allow the OFWs to stay in Clark hotels for a maximum of five nights and send them home if they tested negative of the virus.
The first flight arrived from Dubai, bringing home 262 passengers, of which 257 are OFWs.
The returnees were welcomed by Dizon who is also the National Action Plan Against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer, Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp. chief executive Bi Yong Chungunco, Clark Development Corp. president Noel Manankil and BCDA senior vice president for business development and operations Joshua Bingcang.
