The Philippine Economic Zone Authority plans to create its own COVID-19 testing facilities within four public economic zones in Baguio City, Bataan, Cebu and Pampanga to ensure the strict enforcement of the health and quarantine requirements inside the ecozones.
Similar facilities are also expected to be strategically positioned in private economic zones as health support to workers.
“We are currently coordinating with the Department of Health (DOH) for this program. We plan to provide both the rapid test kits and the PCR test on the said facilities so that the companies will have a choice on either of the methods,” said PEZA director general Charito Plaza.
PEZA will also construct dormitories or housing facilities in four public ecozones with shuttle services.
