The Department of the Interior and Local Government has conferred to Las Piñas City the Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping for 2019, the second consecutive year it has done so.
The SGFH recognizes the compliance of the local government unit with accounting and auditing standards, rules and regulations. It is a measure of transparency and accountability in its financial transactions.
Mayor Imelda Aguilar said the Good Financial Housekeeping certification “is a validation of our efforts in spending public funds efficiently and wisely. Because of the wise spending we are able to provide services that are beneficial to our residents.”
The criteria include Unqualified or Qualified Commission on Audit Opinion of the immediately preceding year, Compliance with the Full Disclosure Policy of Local Budget and Finances, Bids and Public Offerings such as Annual Budget, Statement of Receipts and Expenditures, Annual Procurement Plan or Procurement List, and Bid Results On Civil Works. Goods and Services and Consulting Services, among others.
The Good Financial Housekeeping mark falls under financial administration, one of the seven assessment areas for an LGU to be awarded the SGLG or Seal of Good Local Governance.
“Our good performance in financial transparency is a manifestation of our vision of ‘Maunlad na Las Piñas,’” Aguilar said.
