The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported on Friday its officers in Cagayan rescued an abandoned newborn child, who was found inside a box along a bypass road in Brgy. Bagay, Tuguegarao City on Wednesday morning, September 24.
The Tuguegarao Component City Police Station through executive master sergeants Ace Baggayan and Pat Royet Lattao responded to the area with a team from City Rescue 1111.
They secured the infant and immediately transported her to the Cagayan Provincial Government Hospital for medical attention. The baby is now under the care and protection of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
PNP Acting Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. hailed the quick response of the police and the community, which was instrumental in saving the baby’s life. He said law enforcement authorities are now moving to find the person behind the irresponsible act.
“This rescue reflects the deep sense of duty and humanity that President Marcos envisions for every law enforcer. Each life is precious, and the PNP will not stop until we find the person responsible for abandoning this child,” Nartatez said.
