House receives P6.8 trillion proposed 2026 national budget

Malacañang submitted to the House of Representatives on Wednesday the proposed P6.793 trillion national budget for 2026.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez received the budget proposal from Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, as he assured that the budget process shall be “transparent, inclusive, and worthy of public trust.”

He said every peso must be spent wisely and judiciously.

The proposed budget, the DBM said, “aims to sustain the country’s economic growth momentum while strengthening our commitment to investing in the Filipino people.”

“With the overriding commitment to fulfill our dream of a Bagong Pilipinas, the National Budget seeks to nurture future-ready generations towards achieving the full potential of the nation.”

By sector, the social services received the highest allocation, at P2.314 trillion; followed by economic services, at P1.868 trillion; general public services, at P1.202 trillion; the debt burden, at P978.7 billion; and defense, at P430.9 billion.

By departments, the Education department obtained the highest allocation at P928.5 billion; followed by Public Works, P881.3 billion; Health and PhiliHealth, P320.5 billion; Defense, P229.3 billion, Interior and Local Government, P287.5 billion, Agriculture (and attached corporations, DAR), P239.2 billion, Social Welfare, P227.0 billion, Transportation, P198.6 billion, Judicary, P67.9 billion, and Labor and Employment (including the DMW), P55.2 billion)
